It's been too long since i wrote. I could blame it on the lack of wi-fi that took place in my house for the last two weeks but also quite honestly I have found myself so uninspired and unmotivated. It's that sad case of just existing. Since I've started with the truthfulness might as well continue and say it's this feeling of just existing that in a minute way led me to starting this blog. In these times we searching for clarification of self, some sort of proof that we really are alive. Unfortunately cyber space has offered us such as space to become something/someone. Don't get me wrong cyber space is an awesome place to chill and damned be the day it ever gets banned. Simple things like the amount of followers you have on twitter, the amount of likes you get on a facebook status (OK can't think of more examples those are my main social networking sites) these things are sadly being used as yardsticks to measure our worth. I'm starting to feel like I'm getting this condescending tone so let me make this more personal. Yesterday i had 66 followers on my twitter some two bimbos decided i was interesting enough to read what i gotta say. At the end of the day i was back to just 64 followers. Now i defiantly do not describe myself as someone who looks to others for self validation which is why I don't mind having a two digit number for my followers. Not the type to go attract attention to get mere strangers to like me yet the minus two on my followers list got to me. Firstly lets all admit it's freaking irritating to have indecisive people in your mists,if you gonna follow me. follow me! (got the sudden urge to say b!itch). I found myself thinking what did i do wrong? Were my tweets not inspiring enough? What were they expecting of me in the beginning that i didn't met in the end? Luckily I am mature enough to get over it hmmmm wait but here i am writing about it. Let me rephrase and say luckily i am mature enough to admit when something i know is small and stupid still kind makes me cringe. The whole point i believe blogs, facebook and twitter exist is so that you can be heard regardless if you speaking crap or you princess sensibility. Freedom of expression is obviously something both me and the Carte Blanche show stand for. People like to feel like there is someone out there who cares what you think,i like to feel there is someone out there who is going to read this and agree with me. "No man is an island"
NO MAN IS AN ISLAND
Fact of the matter is we human and we need someone to listen sometimes. It's like Bosman and Lena although her being in that troubled relationship broke her down being around him made her know she really is alive. (if you were never a drama student i assume you a little lost with that example) Now I'm not endorsing for people to put their self worth in others coz duh its gonna kill you tryna please everyone. I propose a balance whereby you critically analyse what you gonna take in to build yourself up. What are you gonna base your existence on so that there is a purpose to your living. I think i have covered too much for any of it to make true sense but you know what at the end of the day this is me and I'm just putting my thoughts, wishes, dreams and myself out there the trick is to not take it personally when you suddenly realise not everybody likes you. On that note i have a request pertaining to this freedom of speech. Yes you have the right to be heard just please make sure whatever it is you saying is worth listening to. So many people on my TL/facebook screaming and very few times i stop to listen. Yes now i am being condescending just can we be able to differentiate whats fun, witty and actually interesting from whats just plain stupid ie Nonhle Thema tweets. Also in this society we in now can we also remember that speech as powerful as it is is just speech it becomes more potent with some action. The quote that comes to mind is "No one cares what you have to say until they know you care"
NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY UNTIL THEY KNOW YOU CARE
Now I'm pretty sure I've covered too much just ranting and raving my honest and what i would like to call deep thoughts. Permission for one last quote which is kinda Eina for those who have built themselves and the basis on who there are on the net. Actually i will further admit it was a little eina to me too.
You're not deep,you're not intellectual,you're not an artist,you're not a critic,you're not a poet.You just have Internet access.
